Terms of Service
Welcome to ScrambleSpot. By using the app you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, please don't use the service.
1. Who we are
ScrambleSpot is a companion app for families competing in World Cube Association (WCA) speedcubing competitions. It is an independent, unofficial third-party product. It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by the WCA.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to create your own account on ScrambleSpot. If you are between 13 and 18, you should review these terms with a parent or guardian before signing in.
Children under 13 may use ScrambleSpot only on a device that is signed in by a parent or guardian who maintains the account. ScrambleSpot is designed to be parent-managed for younger cubers.
3. Your account
You sign in to ScrambleSpot with either the WCA OAuth flow or Google sign-in. By signing in you confirm that the account you use belongs to you, that the information returned by your sign-in provider is accurate, and that you will keep your sign-in credentials secure.
Each sign-in method creates a separate ScrambleSpot account. We do not currently link a WCA-authenticated account and a Google-authenticated account, even if they share an email address.
You're responsible for activity that happens under your account, including any invites you share with co-parents. If you believe your account has been used without your permission, contact us right away.
4. Use of the service
You agree not to:
- Use ScrambleSpot in a way that interferes with the service, other users, or the WCA's public APIs;
- Attempt to access accounts, families, or data that don't belong to you;
- Scrape, mirror, or systematically extract data from the app in a way that bypasses normal use;
- Reverse-engineer or attempt to derive source code from the app, except to the extent that applicable law expressly permits;
- Impersonate another person, including by adding a cuber as "yourself" when you are not that person;
- Use the service to harass, intimidate, or harm anyone.
5. WCA data and live results
ScrambleSpot displays competitor information, schedules, and results that are published publicly by the WCA and competition organizers. We do our best to keep this information current, but it may be incomplete, delayed, or contain errors. For official information, please refer to worldcubeassociation.org and the official live results posted by the competition.
6. Predictions and recommendations
Features like advancement predictions, target times, field projections, and drill recommendations are estimates. They are derived from public results and statistical models that can be wrong. They are not guarantees of how a real competition round will go, and you should treat them as guidance, not as results.
7. Notifications
ScrambleSpot can send push notifications about your tracked cubers (for example, "competing in 5 minutes" or "advanced to Round 2"). Notifications are best-effort. Delivery depends on your browser, your operating system, network conditions, and the push services we rely on. We can't guarantee any specific notification will arrive or arrive on time.
8. Family accounts
A ScrambleSpot account belongs to a single family. Inviting a co-parent grants that account full read and write access to the family's tracked cubers, watchlist, and push subscriptions. Only invite people you trust to manage your family's data.
Any member of the family can later leave it, which removes them from the shared workspace and returns them to a fresh personal family. They do not lose their ScrambleSpot account.
9. Intellectual property
ScrambleSpot, including the app's source code, design, copy, and branding, belongs to its creators. You are granted a limited, revocable, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the app in accordance with these terms.
We do not claim ownership of the WCA data the app displays. That data belongs to the WCA, the relevant organizers, and the competitors themselves.
10. Disclaimers
ScrambleSpot is provided "as is" and "as available." To the maximum extent permitted by law, we disclaim all warranties, express or implied, including the implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any predictions or schedules will be accurate.
11. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, ScrambleSpot and its creators will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, arising from your use of the service. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of the service will not exceed the greater of (a) the amount you paid us to use the service in the 12 months before the claim or (b) US $50.
12. Termination
You can stop using ScrambleSpot at any time by signing out. You can request full account deletion by emailing hello@scramblespot.com.
We may suspend or terminate accounts that we reasonably believe are violating these terms, abusing the service, or putting other users at risk. Where reasonable we'll notify you first.
13. Changes to the service or terms
ScrambleSpot is under active development. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We may also update these terms; when we make material changes we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and surface a notice in-app the next time you sign in. Continued use of the app after a change means you accept the updated terms.
14. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Texas in the United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Travis County, Texas, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.
